About Me
Forester, maker, developer
Hello!
I'm Nathan Sims. I studied History and Anthropology at Virginia Commonwealth University, which led me to work in Cultural Resource Management before becoming a consulting forester in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.
I build things—whether that's software, furniture, or forest management plans. My woodworking and welding produce custom live edge tables and hand-turned pieces. My development work focuses on practical tools like CRUISE, a forestry data collection app.
I'm drawn to work that combines problem-solving with craftsmanship, whether I'm writing code, cruising timber, or shaping wood.
